Gonzales High School Spartans Football Team defended their home vs the Harbor Pirates on November 3rd 2017. The Spartans pulled off a victory in their last game, ending the season with 3 wins. Sadly, it was the last night for the Seniors on the team but their High School career ended in a win. It was also the end of the 1st season in the Art Berlanga era, and in the first and only season with the two tier MTAL league. Next year will usher in a new League for the Spartans and rest of MTAL. For the underclassmen that hope to play Varsity next year, the work begins now as the offseason has started. Go Spartans!
Truly a team win as everyone participated. The last game of the season saw 11 new starters, A lineman throwing a touchdown at QB, and an extra beefy Halfback running for 2 yards! Harbor played tough, scoring in the first and fourth quarters, but the Spartans came out on top 38-20. It was a great season ending with a 4-6 record, a victory over our hated rivals KC, and a host of freshmen playing football for the first time in their life. We played for family. We played for respect. We played like Spartans!
