JV Spartans lost to the Padres 12-42 in a very physical game on Oct 28th. Michael Duby had a 47 yard run touchdown and Tony Viorato also punched one in from 1 yard out. Xavier Jimenez had an interception and Manny Vargas and Tony Viorato both contributed with play on the defensive line. With this game in the books, the spartans are moving on as focus turns to the last game of the season.
Gonzales Spartan Varsity came through with their first win of the season vs the Marina Mariners. The Mariners mounted a strong rushing attack and kept the game close with matching touchdowns and extra points to keep the game at 15-15. However the Spartans proved to be too much and pulled away in the 2nd half while stopping the Mariner offensive attack.
JV Spartans won their first game of the season vs the Mariners with a score of 33-0. Spartans were able to move the ball behind the strong running of Tony Viorato, Xavier Jimenez, Michael Rosas and Michael Madera.
On defense, the line of scrimmage was controlled by the Spartans with great play from Leonel Valdez, Alex Ballesteros, Jaime Ramirez and Jerry Ruiz.
Xavier Jimenez, Michael Duby and Michael Madera also pitched in on defense with Madera registering an interception and forced fumble.

Spartan varsity team had a rough day against the RLS Pirates, losing 52-0
JV Spartans Played a tough game against RLS. The Spartans hung in the game for 3 quarters but came up short 26-44. The JV Squad led in the first quarter behind the hard running of Tony Viorato and Michael Madera. Franky Leon contributed on special teams with a return for a touchdown. Defense had a big day causing multiple turnovers and registering multiple sacks led by Alex Ballesteros with 3. Big time plays from Leonel “Chowder” Valdez, Xavier Jimenez and Mike Duby kept the game close until the 4th quarter where the Pirates pulled away.
