Gonzales High School Spartans Varsity Football regrouped at home to defend it’s home game winning streak versus the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars on Friday Oct 18. The night was also the Spartans Homecoming so expectations were high for the Spartans from the hometown crowd.

The Spartans struck first with a score but it was quickly answered by the Cougars. The first half was full of offense as neither Defense had an answer for the opponent. Halfways through the 2nd quarter with the score being 28-27 the Spartans regrouped, formed their phalanx and defended their field versus the attacking Cougars.

After Halftime, with the Spartan Defense in control the rest of the way, the victory was won on their shields as the Cougars were held scoreless and forced to bear witness to the jubilation of the Spartan Homecoming crowds.

The score ended 42-27, with the Spartans bouncing back to the winners circle. Pictures of the game are below, thanks to Jocelyn Ramirez for taking them.
